Q1: can I write some researches about the art of participation in my research paper to support my idea?(----my questions)

Andrea:It’s best not to use. You can say your methodology came from the art of participation. And participatory design work could be better as the research to support your idea in research paper. It’s necessary to focus on the example about participatory design how they raise people’s awareness.

Q2: my communication question is “how can participatory design raise awareness of culture shock?” There are two definitions here: participatory design and culture shock. Which point should I emphasise in my research paper?(----my questions)

Andrea:Do both of them.

I:Yes, it's true that neither of them can be emphasise at the expense of the other. But I think culture shock should be mentioned first in my research paper because it's the background. Participatory design is the method. 1\discover the problem (culture shock) à  2\solve the problem (through participatory design). This could be logical.

Suggestion from Andrea:

Think: Why do you think participatory design is the best method here? Why don’t you choose graphic design, illustration or others to do that?

You should know 2 concepts: participation and participatory design. Which one is your methord here?
They are a little bit difference. The former means that engaging audience to participate in the process of design during your researches. This is 'participation' not ‘participatory design’.

I: For my mind, audiences can be a part of the design work in participatory design. Just like my camera installation poster. I believe that three crucial elements influenced participatory design--- design work itself, specific environment and audience’s interaction/participation. If lacking one of them it cannot be a complete design work in participatory design. You- the viewer- take part in it and achieve empathy.
